I just graduated and started working at a small chemical engineering design firm; I’m the only one with an electrical engineering background. No one asked me any questions, and my boss told me to learn on my own. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? Which direction should I start from?

It is best to consult the reference room for the previous successful design documents of this design institute; there are design drawings related to electrical and mechanical interlock control, as well as information on the principles of the equipment and components involved. Chemical production equipment always comes with associated process flows. First, it is necessary to understand the principles of these processes, and then add control elements specific to one’s area of expertise to those processes. It might be worth giving this approach a try. (An amateur’s opinion, for reference only)
I’m not sure what kind of projects you are working on. If it’s about installation or construction drawings, I start with building lightning protection, the classification of explosion zones, and the placement of detectors – that’s how I do it: lol
