In recent years, due to global climate change, lightning disasters have become increasingly difficult to prevent and control, representing a global challenge. Recently, 【Junhe Electronics • Lightning Protection Testing】was informed that the intelligent dynamic lightning protection technology, developed independently by **the power company with the support of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power and Suzhou Power Supply**, has been approved by more than 39 member countries of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE). It has been assigned the task of formulating international standards for dynamic lightning protection, and will be promoted and applied worldwide in the future. This is the first time our country has taken on the task of formulating international standards in this field, indicating that the grid lightning protection technology used in pilot projects has reached an internationally leading level. http://www.junhedianzi.cn/uploads/ueditor/image/20200216/1581856861808988.jpg According to Tong Chong, deputy chairman of the academic committee of the International Conference on Lightning in Large Power Grids, traditional static lightning protection methods involve the use of lightning rods, arresters, and lightning conductors to passively direct any lightning that occurs into the ground, thereby bypassing the power grid equipment. It is reported that intelligent grid dynamic lightning protection technology, developed independently by Chinese research teams, enables real-time adjustment of the power grid’s operational structure by predicting potential lightning strikes; this allows the flow of electricity to be directed away from areas affected by lightning, as well as keeping the equipment safe from lightning strikes. In this way, the equipment can ‘bypass’ lightning, which helps to adapt to future climate changes. This approach transforms lightning protection from a traditional ‘static, passive mode’ to an ‘intelligent, dynamic mode’, thereby improving the real-time safety capabilities of power grids during extreme weather conditions. At the same time, this technology enables real-time lightning detection and early warning across multiple regions and areas, as well as distributed multi-target dynamic protection and intelligent analysis to assist in decision-making. It integrates lightning detection, early warning, intelligent prediction, and cluster control systems, allowing it to protect core areas of 200 square kilometers and provide precise monitoring of a central area of 1,000 square kilometers. It can also be expanded to offer real-time early warning, scheduling control, and dynamic protection over vast areas of over 10,000 square kilometers, thus providing new approaches and solutions for lightning protection in power grids. It is understood that the Conference on Industrial Electricity Systems (CIGRE) is one of the three major international standard organizations in the power system field, and its working groups, reports, and technical specifications constitute an important part of the international standard framework for the power industry. In July 2019, the **Power Grid Company** and the CIGRE China committee formally submitted an application to establish a standard working group on \"dynamic lightning protection for smart grids\" to the organizers of the International Conference on Large Power Systems, and the application was approved following a presentation at a special committee meeting. Thanks to the thorough preparatory work carried out in our country and its high level of international recognition, this proposal received full support from over 39 member states, enabling us to gain the right to establish international standards for intelligent dynamic lightning protection. We will regularly update the various relevant knowledge items mentioned above.
