Today, I will introduce two technical specifications of DC power supplies. A DC power supply is a device capable of maintaining a stable voltage and current; examples include dry cells, rechargeable batteries, DC generators, and so on. However, people may not be aware of these two specifications of DC power supplies. The first type of indicator is the characteristic indicator, which primarily allows for the adjustment of the input and output current ranges, as well as the input and output voltage ranges. The second type are quality metrics, which mainly measure the stability of the output current and voltage; these include the voltage regulation factor, output resistance, and ripple voltage. (1) Voltage regulation coefficient: It refers to the relative change in the output voltage caused by a change in the input voltage, under the condition that the load current and ambient temperature remain constant. Both the voltage stabilization coefficient and the voltage regulation rate clearly demonstrate the influence of the input voltage on the output voltage. (2) The output resistance also has a current regulation rate: the output resistance is the same as that of the amplifier, and this value represents the absolute change in the output voltage and output current when the input voltage remains constant. The current regulation rate refers to the relative change in the output voltage that occurs as the output current varies from its minimum value to its maximum value. (3) Ripple voltage: The AC voltage component superimposed on the output voltage; when viewed with an oscilloscope, its peak value is in millivolts.
