Main problems with explosion-proof electrical equipment: 1. Use of ordinary electrical equipment in explosive environments. 2. There are two main factors that cause explosions to occur: human factors and environmental factors. Human factors: ① Insufficient staff training, inadequate level of training, and lack of emphasis. ②Management of procurement and acceptance is weak, and installation is not standardized. ③Unapproved modifications or improper tuning ④⑤⑥⑦ Environmental factors: ① Corrosion, humidity, high-temperature heat sources or low-temperature heat sources ② Ultraviolet radiation, water ingress ③ Mechanical actions, chemical actions. Insufficient staff training: Professionals lack sufficient understanding of explosion protection, and no comprehensive or systematic training in this area has been provided to them. There is a lack of knowledge regarding the basics of explosion protection, as well as insufficient understanding of the selection, use, inspection, and maintenance of explosion-proof electrical equipment. Moreover, not enough emphasis is placed on it. The control during procurement and acceptance is not strict enough: When purchasing explosion-proof products, no quality inspection is carried out, or the product’s explosion-proof certification and label information are not checked temporarily, nor is any random sampling of the product quality performed, which results in substandard products reaching the site. Improper installation: The mounting of the fixture is incorrect, or the light fixture is installed in the wrong direction, with no grounding or improper grounding. Modifying it without approval can directly or indirectly lead to a loss of explosion-proof performance, such as drilling holes in the explosion-proof enclosure, installing heating devices inside the explosion-proof box, or adding communication antennas to the explosion-proof enclosure. Improper maintenance: Issues such as insufficient tightness of fasteners or inadequate sealing due to improper use of glue can lead to a decrease in explosion-proof performance. Environmental factors: Corrosive gases corrode the enclosure, and faulty grounding connections cause the enclosure to crack, increase the resistance of the grounding connections, and result in loss of grounding functionality. Light exposure and ultraviolet rays can cause the plastic casing or wiring connections to fail, leading to a loss of explosion protection. Device vibration sources can also cause explosion protection to fail. There are many reasons that can cause explosion-proof electrical equipment to become ineffective; therefore, when using and installing such equipment, it is necessary to take into account various factors in order to avoid danger.
