Natural gas contains water vapor, and unlike light and heavy oils, this water cannot be separated from the gas. In winter, water tends to precipitate at dead ends or in low-lying areas, causing pipes, valves, and accessories to freeze. Therefore, it is necessary to minimize unnecessary low points; if such points are unavoidable, heat tracing should be used, with the temperature set at a level sufficient to melt the ice.
