During installation, there is a high degree of arbitrariness on the part of the construction team when it comes to using heat tracing wires, and these wires are usually covered by insulation, making them difficult to locate; therefore, a thorough inspection is necessary once they are put into use. In our company, an incident occurred when a thorough inspection of the process was not carried out before activating the heat tracing line; as a result, the purging steam from a vent tank was mistakenly used as the heat tracing line, which caused thermal deformation of the flare line and led to its partial detachment from the pipe rack.
