The breather valve of a reciprocating compressor is leaking oil, due to the evaporation of oil and gas – how to deal with this?
The crankcase breather valve? At what high temperature can lubricating oil evaporate? 1. Use lubricants with high viscosity, such as L-DAB150 ; 2. A oil baffle should be created in the hole of the crankcase cover that connects to the breather valve, to prevent splashing and thus avoid the leakage of lubricating oil ; 3. Excessive crankcase pressure causes oil from the crankcase to be forced out through the breather valve: a. Use packing with good sealing properties to prevent leaks that could lead to excessive crankcase pressure ; b. The clearance of the crankcase oil scrapper ring is too large; replace it with a proper oil scrapper ring ; c. Check whether the vent pipe of the connection box (packing chamber) between the compressor cylinder block and the crankcase is unobstructed, to prevent pressure buildup in the crankcase ;
It is caused by high lubricant temperature and high liquid level.

If gas is leaking into the crankcase, check whether the intermediate body vent line is unobstructed. 2. The lubricating oil temperature is too high, and the oil level is too high. 3. Can the crankcase be connected to a high-point drain?
