Why do some pumps have both self-sealing and mechanical sealing?
The medium in question is likely toxic or harmful, or flammable and explosive. It’s sealed in two layers to prevent leaks. (This is the answer from a novice chemical engineering student who has only been working for three months; please don’t laugh at it.)
I asked the team leader today, and he said it’s a double-end face seal designed to enhance the mechanical seal and prevent leaks; it’s mainly used in high-temperature hot oil pumps as well as in pumps that transport toxic substances
Mm, it’s pretty good. I just started using it as well; let’s learn from each other in the future
