In the hydrogen production plant, the furnace temperature of the conversion furnace (top-fired furnace) fluctuates by about 10 degrees. What is the cause of this, and how can it be resolved?
My personal understanding: it is caused by unstable pressure of the first fuel gas; The opening degree of the second air damper is too large ; Thirdly, it is caused by large fluctuations in the furnace negative pressure as well as large fluctuations in system load
What was said upstairs is great; one additional point: changes in the composition of the fuel. It is better to control it using calorific value, that is, by controlling the total calorific value of the furnace. The conversion furnace designed by our Dehiniub features very stable control of both the furnace temperature and the temperature at the outlet of the conversion furnace.
Such large fluctuations are likely caused by the reburning of desorbed gas, with significant variations in the amount and composition of this gas. Check the pressure trend chart of the desorbed gas buffer tank to try and reduce the amplitude of these fluctuations.
Analyzing that gas flow fluctuations can easily cause this phenomenon, as the fuel gas can basically be kept stable
Fluctuations in the pressure and volume of the desorption gas and fuel gas, negative pressure, the size of the dampers – in some cases, it could be an issue with the instruments.

1. Fluctuations in fuel gas pressure, including fluctuations in gas and PSA purified gas pressure; 2. Changes in the composition of the fuel gas, including those in the gas produced by PSA separation, require attention. It should be noted that fluctuations in the temperature of the converter and changes in the composition of the gas from PSA separation influence each other, but ultimately an equilibrium state will be reached ; 3. Fluctuations in furnace pressure, including negative pressure fluctuations and fluctuations in combustion air flow rate ; 4. Fluctuations in the feed flow rate of the converter. Normally, one should pay more attention to changes in the oxygen content in the flue gas; when the processing volume remains stable, the oxygen content can indicate trends in furnace temperature changes more promptly.
