When UOP came for discussions, they said that the kerosene produced from our wax oil cracking could be sold directly as finished diesel. There is no need to separate it into naphtha and diesel components anymore.
The cetane number of diesel produced through the hydrogenation of wax oil is generally above 55; in some plants it can even reach 60. The sulfur content is also less than 10PPM, which is well above the requirements specified for National Standard 5. However, the wear mark diameter does not meet the standards, and the addition of certain anti-wear agents is necessary to satisfy the requirements of National Standard 5. In modern refineries, high-cetane diesel produced by the hydrogenation of wax oil is usually mixed with diesel obtained through diesel hydrogenation, and the mixture is then sold as finished product.
No cutting is required; as long as the initial ignition temperature of the aviation fuel is at least 140°C, the diesel mixed in the pipelines within the system can be sent for storage and transportation! It’s okay to pass with a mixed score at the qualifying level. However, it also depends on the jet fuel to diesel ratio. Ours is around 1:10 to 1:4; the initial values for the blended National V diesel meet the requirements, with a flash point of over 165 and a cetane number that is within the acceptable range.
