Simply put, it is a component with regularly shaped openings on it, which allows for the indirect measurement of the compressor’s speed; it is also possible to analyze the compressor’s operating condition based on the data provided by the key phase. It is very useful when conducting accident analysis.
Phase helps determine the relative motion of the different points on a machine (usually different bearings) with respect to other points; the phase reference markers and readings collected are used for this purpose. To discuss phase in general terms, a convention is needed, with phase being represented by 360° of a circle. Since high precision is not required for the example, total phase analysis compares the phase to the hands of a clock: from 1 o’clock to 12 o’clock.
