Is the pilot light of the hydrogen production burner always on during normal operation of the plant? I asked a few people; many of them don’t order it. When will they order it?
Is there no design? Does it meet safety requirements?
Our SEI design includes a pilot light; as per the requirements, once the burner is ignited, the pilot light remains lit continuously, and it is required that the gas outlet for the pilot light be located before the main burner shut-off valve.
A normally lit permanent light should not go out once it has been turned on
If a perpetual light is installed, it should remain burning during operation. This is a requirement for process safety, to prevent the risk of deflagration in the furnace. Some converter burners do not have a pilot light, and flame monitors should be incorporated into their design; these monitors must have an interlock function that allows the furnace to stop operating at certain furnace temperatures once no flame is detected. In addition, some systems are designed with integrity tests for the fuel gas, to ensure that no fuel gas leaks into the furnace before ignition, thereby guaranteeing the safety of furnace ignition.
