The ester-based anti-wear agents purchased by our company tend to \"solidify\" in winter, becoming similar in texture to tofu pudding, and thus cannot be removed from the tanks for use. Moreover, the site is an external tank area where heating is not permitted, so it’s not feasible to build insulation shelters (it’s not our company’s tank area). Do any of you experts have any good solutions that don’t involve replacing the anti-wear agent?
According to the requirements for the freezing point of ester-type anti-wear agents specified in Q/SHCG 57—2017, it must not be lower than -16 degrees. However, this is a requirement regarding the freezing point; in actual use, even if the temperature does not reach -16 degrees, it still starts to affect the extraction of the substance from large tanks. Even when extraction does occur, an elastic foam layer forms on top of the additive tank, and at higher temperatures this foam is absorbed back by the liquid, so it does not affect actual use. If freezing occurs, or even the entire barrel freezes, then congratulations – it will take about two weeks for it to thaw in a warehouse at around 15 degrees Celsius, which will disrupt normal production. If conditions permit, in winter, products from northern regions should be stored in warm warehouses with temperatures above 15°C. If there’s no warm storage, you must have a pump room; the temperature in that room should also be above zero degrees. If you plan to store several barrels there for an extended period of time, it’s necessary to coordinate with the relevant departments and arrange the items in designated areas. Otherwise, the health, safety, and environment department will take action against you. Two options: 1. Build a custom plumbing platform, with a set of heating/cooling elements placed underneath it (steam heating cannot be used as its temperature is too high); the height of the platform should be such that the temperature on its surface does not exceed 40 degrees even when the heating is turned up to full capacity. This solution presents difficulties in handling due to the use of ton barrels; it is possible to request the manufacturer to package the product in 200-liter iron drums, and the platform should have a gentle slope to facilitate handling. 2. Install electric heating for the ton barrel, set it at 35 degrees – it’s simple and convenient. Both of the above bills require opening the barrel lid, and they should be implemented along the inspector’s patrol route to ensure that any abnormalities can be detected promptly.
