The total time required for shutting down operations, carrying out repairs, and fixing the heat exchangers was 6 days. A plan for preventing freezing was developed before the shutdown, along with key control points... and so on. But once the emergency repairs began, no one paid any attention to that plan – they simply signed their names without checking it. That’s why implementing things on-site at such times is the most crucial. When there is no flow of medium in the equipment and pipelines, it is crucial to ensure proper drainage at the lowest points. All control valves and drain points, as well as the lowest points of the pipelines and equipment, should be used to drain any remaining water – do this 3 to 5 times, and then there will be basically no problems with these pipelines. Before starting work, just test the following. Please point out any shortcomings.

How should long-term shutdowns be handled? Especially for equipment like steam generators, and also how can pumps be protected from freezing?
Keep the heat tracing on unless it needs to be turned off; otherwise. . . If shutdown is necessary, purge the pipes/equipment thoroughly and drain from the lowest point. Do not install plug seals or close valves after draining the drain points of the water pipes and pumps
