Our plant has a small diesel hydrogenation unit that has been shut down for over a year. When it was restarted, the hydrogen circulation and temperature rise processes worked fine at first; everything was normal after the oil was fed in. However, after an hour, a pressure difference appeared between the front and back of the reactor. Could the experts please give some guidance on what might be causing this? Thank you!
Sudden pressure buildup in the reactor may be caused by blockages inside the reactor or catalyst deactivation.
