According to Sinochem New Network, recently the wind power-based hydrogen production technology testing platform at Fujian Province’s green hydrogen pilot base passed the special assessment conducted by an expert panel from the Quality Supervision Station for Renewable Energy Power Generation projects, and was officially granted permission to be connected to the grid. This marks a crucial step forward for this project, as it moves from the construction phase to the operational phase. This project was jointly developed by Fujian Energy and Petrochemical Group and Academician Zheng Nanfeng from Xiamen University’s Tan Kah Kee Laboratory. As a key pilot project for the development of the hydrogen energy industry in Fujian Province, this platform takes 20-megawatt wind power-based hydrogen production as its core element, enabling deep integration between renewable energy and the hydrogen energy industry. This project aims to conduct pilot tests on water electrolysis for hydrogen production under wind power fluctuations and the application of green hydrogen, to create a demonstration platform for green hydrogen production and the diversified utilization of hydrogen-based energy. It also involves establishing a standardized energy system evaluation center, a safety testing and verification center for green hydrogen applications, and a testing and certification facility for hydrogen-related equipment. By doing so, it seeks to accelerate the development of a demonstration chain that connects offshore energy, hydrogen storage, and hydrogen-based energy applications, thereby providing innovative solutions for the efficient use of large-scale offshore wind power in Fujian Province and for building a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system. It is reported that once the project is put into operation, it will effectively enhance the region’s capacity to utilize renewable energy, and accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen in key sectors such as transportation and industry.
