For the analysis of the raw gas used in hydrogen production facilities, the hydrogen sulfide level detected using hydrogen sulfide test tubes is above 200 mg/m3, yet the total sulfur level measured by chromatography is below 100 mg/m3. This is the case for samples taken over several shifts. What is the reason for this? Why is the hydrogen sulfide level higher than the total sulfur level? There was a paper on Daqing that mentioned hydrogen arsenide and nitrogen oxides, which can affect the color development in the detection tube! Moreover, sampling rubber bladders will absorb hydrogen sulfide!
The test tube is only a simple method for reference purposes. The laboratory analysis results shall take precedence.
