Dear colleagues: After the purification unit is connected to the gas supply, there is usually a 25–30 hour interval before acidic gas can be fed into the sulfur recovery unit. During this time, venting the acidic gas through flares inevitably leads to odor pollution, creating significant environmental pressures. Is there any way to maintain the sulfur recovery unit in its heating mode even before the main system is connected, so that the acidic gas generated after the purification unit is connected can be directly fed into the sulfur recovery unit, thereby achieving a seamless connection? Are there any practical technical solutions for this?
There are multiple columns in the sulfur recovery units; the first column to be put into operation enables the exhaust gases to meet emission standards. At present, it is possible that no unit yet can achieve this, and the main reason is the issue of pre-sulfurization of the hydrogenation catalysts.
For a single unit, is the recovery after a short-term shutdown during normal operation not the same as starting up from scratch? To effectively reduce this time, should solutions be sought within the large system itself or through external technical improvements?
