This unit’s gas holder is equipped with a desulfurization system; the desulfurizing agent used is methyl diethanolamine. The gas composition in the gas holder consists of about 60% hydrogen and 10–20% C3+C4 compounds. The rich liquid is pumped to the regeneration unit via an external pump. Currently, there are intermittent issues with the transfer of this rich liquid – even when the manual valve and control valve at the outlet of the rich liquid pump are fully open, the liquid level in the desulfurization tower does not decrease. Has anyone encountered this problem? What could be the cause, and are there any solutions?
The possible reasons are as follows: 1. The regeneration unit is under excessive load. If the processing capacity of the regeneration unit reaches its limit, it is normal for the transfer of rich liquid to be restricted. Some methods need to be employed to reduce the viscosity of the rich liquid, such as adding a diluent or increasing its temperature. 4. Pump failure. If there is a fault with the pump, such as insufficient pumping speed or damaged seals, it can also lead to restricted transfer of the rich liquid. It is necessary to check the maintenance status of the pump.
