Can the vapors of these chemicals stored at atmospheric pressure – acrylonitrile, styrene, MMA, hexene-1, phenol, propylene, and acetonitrile – coexist during vapor recovery? Will it react?
This is a very practical problem, especially for third-party warehousing companies. There are many types of liquefied substances, and using separate pipelines for each one requires significant investment and complex processing. On the other hand, using shared pipelines is not approved by safety and environmental protection authorities due to potential safety risks; as of now, there is no effective solution to this issue
With so many different varieties, including those classified as Category A and Category B in terms of fire hazard, each having distinct physicochemical properties and levels of toxicity, it’s not feasible to use the same gas recovery pipelines. Even if the environmental protection authorities agree, the safety authorities will definitely not approve it; it’s better to give up on this idea right away.
There should be no reaction; considering sharing oil and gas recovery facilities is an option. However, there are several issues: 1. Connecting the gas pipelines is definitely not acceptable; it is recommended to use a single pipeline for delivery. 2. What should be done with the recovered liquid phase? 3. Attention should be paid to the specific properties of various materials, such as the extreme toxicity of acrylonitrile and the tendency of styrene to crystallize
