Metal hoses are installed on the inlet and outlet pipes of the propylene sphere tank, and their main purpose is likely to prevent problems caused by uneven settlement of the tank. Are there any regulations that mandate the use of flexible connections for import and export pipelines? Some design institutes do not use flexible connections for the spherical tanks and storage tanks they design, while others do use such connections for these types of tanks. I’ve seen ball tanks whose inlet and outlet pipes do not have metal flexible hoses, and the response given to me was that the settlement factors were fully taken into account during the design of the tank’s foundation.

This isn’t mandatory, right? Otherwise, many ball tanks wouldn’t be connected using metal hoses!
Spherical tanks are generally under high pressure, especially those used for liquefied hydrocarbons; the use of metal hoses at the base is generally not recommended. Leaks are likely to occur over time, posing a significant risk. Moreover, spherical tanks generally have independent foundations, which may lead to uneven settlement of the equipment and pipelines; therefore, other measures need to be taken to avoid this, and of course calculations must be conducted to determine these measures.

For liquefied hydrocarbon spheres/tanks or propylene spheres, metal hoses are generally not used at the root section; we have never seen metal hoses being employed in such applications.
I also believe that metal hoses should not be used for spherical tanks, and almost all spherical tanks I’ve seen use rigid connections. But are there any relevant standards that specify this in detail?
Flammable liquid storage tanks are required to use flexible connections; no specific requirements are specified for spherical tanks. According to SH3136-2003, the pipelines connected to spherical tanks must possess a certain degree of flexibility.
SH/T3007 stipulates that the use of hoses for connection is not recommended. In previous years, the pipes were arranged in an “L” shape ; Recently, spring supports were added at the first pier in front of the tank.
