I have a question for everyone: after nitrogen purging of the 20% ammonia storage tank, a vent valve and a safety valve are installed. Can the exhaust from the safety valve be discharged directly into the atmosphere? The codes for fire protection design in the petrochemical industry state that the gas discharged from the safety valves of ammonia systems should be treated before being released. Since nitrogen is added, the mixture consists of nitrogen and ammonia – how should this mixture be treated? A water seal? Additionally, for such a breathing valve, it is possible to use only valves that function in one direction to create a vacuum effect, or else set an opening pressure higher than that of the safety valve as an additional layer of protection; obviously, a breathing valve cannot serve as a water seal

If you discharge it directly into the atmosphere, the environmental protection agency won’t trouble you
Our factory has devices of this kind: the outlet of the safety valve is connected to a washing tower to wash away the ammonia gas that escapes, while the breather valve can be used solely for breaking vacuum
Do you also use ammonia for denitration? Are safety valves and vacuum break valves installed on the tank?
Our factory has liquid ammonia tanks and ammonia water storage tanks; the emergency discharge outlets and safety valve outlets of these tanks all lead directly to the scrubber for recycling. There is no vacuum break valve; ours should be a full vacuum design.
