Annual Work Summary of the Metrologist in the Production Planning DepartmentDear leaders, hello. I am Wang Yi, a measurer in the Production Planning Department; I was transferred to this department on July 20, 2017. After being transferred to the Production Planning Department, I made an effort to adapt to the role of a measurer as quickly as possible and complete my work tasks. During these little over half a year of working, I have recognized many of my shortcomings; especially at the beginning, I relied on Engineer Zhang for everything. After a few months of learning, I gradually adapted to this job and learned how to perform it well. Below is my annual work summary for 2017: (I) Weighbridge equipment 1. Weighbridge calibration status Weighbridges are equipment subject to mandatory calibration, with a calibration cycle of 6 months. The previous calibration period for the weighbridge was from May 3, 2017, to November 2, 2017. We have already contacted the calibration agency to complete the calibration of the scale as soon as possible. 2. The operation status of the truck scale is as follows. Below are the problems that occurred during its operation, their causes, and the measures taken to resolve them: Problem: When logging into the truck scale system, it shows that COM initialization failed; no serial port can be detected by the computer. Although there are values displayed on the weighing indicator, no values appear in the truck scale system. Reason: The static electricity in the computer host cannot be discharged; the resistance is too high. Steps: Turn off the weighing display, the computer host, and the printer in sequence; unplug the power cable of the computer host, then press the power button on the host 10–20 times intermittently to discharge static electricity. Redesign the wiring by connecting the main cable of the power strip to the wall outlet, and connecting the power cables for the weight display unit, the main unit, and the printer to the power strip. Question: The weighbridges are divided into the east weighbridge – used for weighing raw materials upon arrival at the factory, and the west weighbridge – used for weighing products upon leaving the factory. When products are shipped from the western weighing station, the sender and receiver details on the weight sheet are reversed. Reason: An error occurred in a file within the truck scale system. Measures: Contact the scale after-sales service to replace the document. (Note: The files for the east and west scales have been copied to prevent further issues with the scale system’s files.) Problem: It is not possible to log in to the scale system. Reason: The company’s server system has crashed, preventing access to Kingdee; the scale system is integrated with Kingdee. Action: Contact Finance Director Zhang Zhiqiang to resolve the server issue. Question: The scale receipt cannot be printed. Reason: Printer malfunction. Steps: Redownload the driver, reconnect the printer cable, restart the printer, and reconfigure the printer on the computer. Question: The weight display and the data on the computer show half the weight. Reason: The vehicle remained on the scale when it was restarted. Action: The driver should drive the vehicle off the scale, restart the scale, and wait 30 minutes after it has been restarted before the vehicle can be placed back on the scale. 3. Maintenance of weighing scales: Standards for the inspection and maintenance of weighing scales have been established, as follows: For the electronic weighing scale’s structure: (1) Check the gaps around the scale platform; this inspection should be carried out on a weekly basis. (2) The cleanliness of the scale platform should be checked at the end of each shift. (3) Maintenance of the scale body connector and hygiene of the support head; inspection frequency is once per quarter. (4) Welding operations are strictly prohibited on the scale; inspections shall be carried out at the end of each shift. (5) Inspection and adjustment of the limit clearance, with an inspection cycle of once per quarter. (6) Cleaning of water accumulation in the weighing scale foundation pit; inspection frequency is once per shift. (7) Maximum total weight limit for vehicles on the scale; inspection frequency is once per shift. (8) Vehicles or goods must not be left on the scale platform for extended periods; the inspection cycle is once per shift. Electronic scale display section: (1) The cleanliness of the weighing display unit, printer, and computer; inspection should be carried out at the end of each shift. (2) Check whether the system grounding wire is secure on a weekly basis. (3) Hygiene inspection of junction boxes; the inspection cycle is monthly. (4) The scale should be zeroed out promptly when it is empty, with inspections carried out at the end of each shift. (5) Electronic weigh scales shall be regularly calibrated, with a inspection cycle of half a year. (6) The power supply should be cut off when the scale is out of use, and it should be inspected daily. Regular inspection items for electronic weigh scales: (1) Visual inspection of the weighing platform, with an inspection frequency of once daily. (2) Adjustment of the scale body limits; the inspection cycle is once per quarter. (3) Inspection of the unloading bolt clearance, with an inspection cycle of once per quarter. (4) Inspection of the positions of scale body connectors; the inspection cycle is quarterly. (5) Inspection of the junction box sealing and connections, with an inspection frequency of once per year. (6) Inspection of instruments and their errors, etc., is carried out on a quarterly basis. 4. Weighbridge maintenance records: The weighbridge operator carries out daily maintenance tasks on the weighbridge. If any problems arise, the operator first tries to identify and resolve them on his own. If the weigher cannot resolve the issue, he/she should notify the meter reader, who will then go to the scale to fix the problem. Once the issue is resolved, the weigher shall make a record in the shift handover book. In the role of a meter reader, I carry out systematic and thorough maintenance of the weigh scales on a monthly basis, adhering strictly to the established standards for such maintenance, and keep records of it all. This ensures that the weigh scales function properly and maintain their proper service life. (II) Measuring instruments 1. Inspection status of measuring instruments (1) The number of pressure gauges that were last inspected was 174, with the inspection period ranging from May 16, 2017, to November 15, 2017. (The calibration date has passed.) On December 14, 2017, 138 pressure gauges (64 manufactured and 74 used for storage and transportation) were sent to the Dongying Metrology, Testing and Calibration Institute; the calibration of these pressure gauges was completed approximately 30 days later. (2) The number of transmitters to be calibrated is 5, with the calibration period running from June 29, 2017, to June 28, 2018. (Currently within the calibration range.) (3) The number of gas detectors to be calibrated is 121; all gas detectors in the plant are to be calibrated, with the calibration period from June 7, 2017, to June 6, 2018. (Currently within the calibration range.) (4) Types and quantities of instruments to be calibrated in the laboratory: 1 pipette of 1 ml capacity, and 1 pipette of 10 ml capacity ; There is 1 volumetric flask of 25ml, 1 of 50ml, 1 of 100ml, and 1 of 500ml ; There is 1 measuring cylinder with a capacity of 500 ml and 1 with a capacity of 1000 ml ; 2 burettes with a capacity of 25 ml each ; The calibration period for the measuring instruments tested in the laboratory is from 2017-6-12 to 2020-6-11. (They are currently within the calibration range.) 2. During the company’s trial production phase, when a pressure gauge gets damaged, an appropriate one is selected for replacement ; The Production Planning Department, the Production Operations Department, and the Storage and Transportation Department jointly completed the calibration of the flow meter for the C4 raw material feed into the unit ; If measuring instruments such as thermometers and flow meters fail, the dispatch team should be notified immediately; the dispatch team will then contact the instrument maintenance team to carry out repairs, ensuring the normal trial production of the equipment ; Measuring instruments in the laboratory, such as pipettes and volumetric flasks, are accurate, ensuring reliable results for pilot production testing and analysis ; After the calibration of the gas alarm is completed, it should be used normally to ensure safe trial production of the device. (III) The company’s administrative department has contacted the certification body to pursue certification for the three-standard system, with the support of the Production Planning Department, which provides the materials required by the certification body (the records related to pressure gauges, gas detectors, the laboratory, and transmitters have been submitted to the Administrative Office of the Comprehensive Management Department). The Production Planning Department assists the Comprehensive Management Department in completing the certification process for the company’s three-standard system as soon as possible. 2018 Work Plan (I) Weighbridge Equipment 1. Calibration status of the weighbridge: The last calibration period for this weighbridge was from May 3, 2017, to November 2, 2017; thus, its calibration has expired. We have already contacted the calibration agency to complete the calibration as soon as possible. The calibration cycle for scale weights is half a year; when it’s time to calibrate them again, contact the calibration agency one month in advance, prepare the materials required by the agency, and complete the calibration ahead of time. 2. Operation of the scale: After more than half a year of work, I have acquired a lot of knowledge on dealing with issues related to scales. When problems arise with the scale, I address them promptly, and at the same time I continue to deepen my understanding of scale-related matters, striving to be able to resolve such problems independently. 3. Maintenance and upkeep of weighbridges: In the new year, strictly adhere to the standards for maintainance and upkeep of weighbridges. Conduct systematic and comprehensive maintenance on the weighbridges every month, while also keeping detailed records of such maintenance activities. By carrying out proper maintenance of the scale, its normal operation can be ensured. It is also ensured that the weighmaster carries out maintenance of the scale on a daily basis, including cleaning the scale surface and removing waste from beneath it, so as to ensure the accuracy of the scale and enable it to perform weighing tasks effectively. (II) Measuring instruments 1. Inspection status of measuring instruments: 138 pressure gauges (64 manufactured and 74 used for storage and transportation) have been sent to the Dongying Metrology, Testing and Calibration Institute. On January 20, contact was made with this institute to inquire whether all the pressure gauges had been inspected. If so, the necessary documents will be prepared to collect the pressure gauges from the institute. The meter reader keeps a record of the pressure gauges that have passed the calibration and replaces them on-site. For pressure gauges that fail the calibration, the cause is analyzed first to determine whether it is a problem with the pressure gauge itself or with the calibration facility ; If the pressure gauge analysis shows no issues, conduct another inspection ; If there is a problem with the pressure gauge, the department using it shall submit a plan to purchase a new one. It is important to distinguish between pressure gauges of types A, B, and C; by continuing to learn more about pressure gauges, one can be qualified for the role of a meter reader. Thermometers and transmitters are calibrated, and inquiries were made to companies in the surrounding area; the feedback received was that the calibration interval for thermometers and transmitters depends mainly on factors such as the specific process conditions of the application, as well as product quality and lifespan. Information found online suggests that they should be calibrated once every 2 years. The meter reader conducts selective calibration based on the specific application requirements of the company; subsequently, coordination is carried out with the Safety and Environment Department as well as the Operation and Maintenance Center to complete the calibration of thermometers and transmitters. The calibration period for gas detectors is from June 7, 2017, to June 6, 2018. Gas detectors are classified as devices that require mandatory calibration, and all of them must be calibrated. It is necessary to contact the calibration agency one month in advance, prepare the documents required by the agency, and complete the calibration of the gas detectors ahead of time. The calibration period for the measuring instruments in the laboratory is from 01/07/2017 to 06/11/2020; the usage of these instruments is checked every quarter, with relevant records kept. The meter reader requests the laboratory records from the Quality Control Department on a monthly basis, and checks the measuring instruments based on those records. 2. Operation status of measuring instruments: In 2018, the inventory records of all measuring instruments in the plant were updated. The Production Planning Department works in conjunction with the warehouse for \"coordinated management.\" When a measuring instrument gets damaged, the department that uses it goes to the warehouse to obtain a replacement; the warehouse must inform the Production Planning Department, and then a metering technician goes to the warehouse to record the information regarding the replacement, ensuring that the inventory records of all measuring instruments in the factory are always up to date. (III) The metrologist in the Production Planning Department of the three-standard system shall continue to cooperate with the Comprehensive Management Department, provide the information required by it, and expedite the completion of the company’s certification for the three-standard system. After the company completed the certification for its three-standard system, it implemented this system across various departments to further improve the relevant regulations. (IV) The Production Planning Department of the 6S system implements the company’s regulations by introducing 6S management systems in this department, thereby improving the company’s policies and procedures. 2018 is a brand new year, and it’s also a year for challenging myself! I will earnestly summarize my experiences, rectify the shortcomings in my work over the past year, and strive to perform my duties even better. I aim to become a qualified professional in metrology management and calibration, thereby contributing my part to the development of Dechen. I sincerely wish that the Dechen family will continue to thrive and get better. I hope Decent will achieve even greater success in the new year. Metrologist: Wang Yi, December 25, 2017
