Regarding the water injection system for spherical tank facilities

As per the regulatory requirements, liquefied hydrocarbon pressure spheres must be equipped with water injection ports and related facilities. Is it necessary to have remote control for the control valves on the water injection lines? Are there any relevant standards to support this?
There is no requirement for remote control valves. After all, injecting water is an emergency measure taken when there is a leak but no fire.
To install remote control, it’s difficult for those on site who have leaks to get close; therefore, remote operation is necessary.
I’ve also struggled with this issue before; there’s no rule stating that remote control is mandatory, but these days we generally go with a remote control setup
It’s possible to make it remote-controlled, but it is recommended to take the following two steps: 1. The valve should still be equipped with a handwheel; if that’s not possible, manual operation can be used； 2. Whether it is a cable or a gas line, protective measures must be taken
Relevant standards do not seem to include such a requirement, but in the interpretations of potential hazards issued by the safety supervision authorities, there is a requirement for this valve to be equipped with a remote control valve that has a manual function.
Please refer to GB50160-2008 Code for Fire Protection Design of Petrochemical Enterprises, Section 8.10.10: The installation of fixed fire cooling water pipelines for full-pressure and semi-refrigerated liquefied hydrocarbon storage tanks shall comply with the following provisions: 2. The fire cooling water system may be equipped with manual or remotely controlled valves; when the volume of the storage tank is equal to or greater than 1000 m3, remotely controlled valves shall be used； 3. Control valves should be located outside the fire dike, at a distance of not less than 15m from the wall of the tank to be protected ；
There are no requirements; the valve cannot be installed inside the cofferdam
Regarding making the water injection valve remotely controllable, should it be set to fail open or fail closed?
