How long does it generally take for the overall design, preliminary design, and detailed design of coal-to-methanol production? Also, at which stage will the long-cycle equipment arrive? Thank you

This question is quite broad. If the project investors have a clear intention to invest in the project, the preliminary **approval procedures proceed smoothly, the conditions for utility services are clear, and the process route is well-established, then the design work at each stage can progress normally; otherwise, it is difficult to estimate the time required for various stages. For a typical coal-to-methanol project with a capacity of 1.8 million tons per year, the overall design takes 6 to 8 months, the preliminary design takes 4 to 6 months, and the detailed design takes 8 to 12 months. There are overlapping periods between various design stages, and the length of these overlapping periods depends on the level of design detail.
Additionally, there are many coal-to-methanol projects with a capacity of 1.8 million tons per year in China, and these projects are quite mature. The original poster can contact the project owners or communicate with engineering companies that possess the capabilities required for such projects; in China, there are only about 6 or 7 engineering companies that have such capabilities.
