Polyester plant shutdown for maintenance: no work order, no hot work permit, and no safety briefing. I reported to the manager that such things don’t exist in light industry, as it is during maintenance period. However, ethylene glycol and heat transfer fluid were present during multiple maintenance operations. It hasn’t been completely drained; work on heating continues. The designed annual production capacity is 40,000 tons. Are a fire permit and a safety briefing document required during maintenance of such equipment? I asked several times, but the leader refused, saying it was unnecessary
