Dear colleagues, I have a question. For a certain project, the client requires that the asphalt be sent directly to the factory via road after it is unloaded from the ship. In my opinion, it is more reliable to use a dedicated storage tank and then a separate loading pump for transferring the asphalt. The drawback of the process requested by the client, in my view, is that the unloading pumps are located on the ships, and the flow rates and head pressures of these pumps vary from ship to ship. If such pumps are used as loading pumps, it becomes difficult to set a uniform value for the safety valve on the outlet pipeline. Are there any other drawbacks? There are no specific provisions in the oil depot codes that impose restrictions.
