Commissioning of Yanzhi Petrochemical’s cryogenic separation and recovery facility for exhaust gases On December 9, the cryogenic separation and recovery facility for exhaust gases from Yanzhi Petrochemical’s No. 2 polyethylene plant was successfully put into operation. This facility utilizes patented cryogenic separation technology, enabling annual cost savings of 5 million yuan in production costs. By analyzing the exhaust gas components under the actual operating conditions of the plant, and taking into account the existing exhaust gas recovery capacity and efficiency, the company separates the plant’s exhaust gas using a hydrogen membrane before sending it to a cryogenic separation system, thereby enabling the effective separation and purification of ethylene, butylene, hexane, and nitrogen. More than 95% of the heavy hydrocarbons in the existing exhaust gases can be recovered and reused in the reactor, while over 70% of the nitrogen in the exhaust gases can also be recycled, significantly reducing the amount of nitrogen that needs to be added. This patent offers significant advantages in terms of reducing operating costs, improving recovery efficiency, and enhancing environmental performance metrics.
