The factory needs to organize the equipment records, and I’m at a loss as to what to do. It’s not that it’s impossible to do, but I’m not very good at organizing such documents; I just put items of the same type together, which makes it difficult to find the information later on. For example, regarding the manual for a pump in the boiler room, should it be placed in the files related to the boiler’s auxiliary equipment, or in the category dedicated to pumps used in utility systems? Should the specific parameter file for this pump be kept in the boiler equipment register or in the pump equipment register? Another example: a pressure vessel, which is considered a special type of equipment, should be recorded in the archives related to special equipment. But since it is also a production device in Workshop A, does it need to be included in the workshop’s equipment archives as well? There is only one original copy. Is there any device management software that can effectively manage device records and maintain daily maintenance logs?
Classifying equipment by category is a commonly used method for organizing design documents; however, its drawback is that it does not meet the requirements of safety management. In accordance with the requirements of the 2025 version of the enterprise safety standardization system, under item 6 on equipment integrity, and sub-item 6.2 on hierarchical management of equipment, equipment is classified into: 1] critical equipment, 2] major equipment, and 3] ordinary equipment. For example, the water supply pump, which is an accessory to boilers, falls under the category of critical equipment, K1. In the catalog of key equipment, the boiler – the water supply pump is identified by the code K1-6; the relevant details can be found in note Z1-9. Under the category of major equipment – pumps – water supply pumps, although all the related documents for the water supply pump are stored in the file box for key equipment, they can also be located indirectly using other catalog indices.
