According to China Petroleum Network (reporter: Xu Yuan; correspondent: Yuan Mengqi), on December 4, the International Business Company held a press conference in Beijing to release the annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report in both Chinese and English versions on a global scale. This report is the first ESG report publicly released by a domestic energy trading company, providing a comprehensive overview of the practices and achievements of Chinese energy trading companies in the field of sustainable development. The Report strictly adheres to the GRI standards. From the three dimensions of environment, society, and governance, and centered around three main themes – “Building a diversified and collaborative energy trade ecosystem to support a resilient energy transition,” “Actively fulfilling social responsibilities to create shared value,” and “Strengthening ESG risk management to lay a solid foundation for sustainable development” – it demonstrates the responsibilities and commitment of this international enterprise in its pursuit of becoming a world-class global energy trader. The Report states that in the face of profound changes in the global energy landscape and uncertainties in the external environment, international enterprises continue to improve their ESG governance frameworks, strengthen business ethics and compliance management, advance digital and intelligent technologies, and lay a solid foundation for sustainable development. At the same time, it actively builds a diversified and collaborative energy trade ecosystem, works to enhance the resilience of global energy supply, and provides low-carbon solutions to support the green transformation of the energy system. In 2024, the company’s carbon business volume exceeded 16 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, while its electricity trading volume surpassed 18 million megawatt-hours. In practicing the \"culture of harmony,\" the company focuses on five key areas: stakeholder communication, employee development, health and safety, products and services, and community outreach. By working with over 3,500 business partners, it strives to build an ecosystem of shared value and foster a corporate image characterized by responsibility. At the press conference, various experts from the energy industry, research institutions, and the media gave positive feedback on the contents of the Report as well as the ESG achievements of the International Business Company, and offered suggestions regarding the future direction for advancing ESG efforts.
