In the First Automobile Factory’s distillation column, which features a siphon reboiler at its bottom, there have been recent fluctuations in the pressure of the reboiler’s condensate; meanwhile, the column pressure and liquid level also experience fluctuations. During the investigation, it was found that if the condensate generated behind the steam trap was discharged directly on site, there were no fluctuations in the condensate pressure, as well as in the tower pressure and liquid level. It was preliminarily determined that low condensate pressure was the cause of the inability to carry out continuous condensate recovery; instead, recovery occurred in intermittent pulses, which led to fluctuations in tower operation. The same phenomenon occurs when the condensate is recovered directly through temporary pipes from the drain before the steam trap. Previously, the entire system was stable, with no fluctuations in either the upstream or downstream components. However, recently there have been fluctuations most of the time, though brief periods of stability do occur occasionally. I would like to ask everyone now: how can adjustments be made to stabilize the entire system?
You must be using low-pressure steam; otherwise, this problem generally wouldn’t occur. It’s possible that the load on the stripping tower is lower than designed, resulting in excess capacity in the heat exchanger, and consequently the pressure of the steam condensate becomes lower.
Yes, low-pressure steam is used. Try to increase the load on the stripper a bit tomorrow to see the effect.

It’s possible that there is a gas blockage in the reboiler; try reducing the load at the bottom of the tower and then gradually increasing the load again.
