The LPG desulfurization tower uses two sections of packing; the bottom level control valve regulates the upper level, with the full range corresponding to the bottom level. Currently, due to large fluctuations in the boundary level, manual control is used. Fluctuations also occur when the liquefied gas volume and the amine solution circulation volume remain unchanged. The filler has probably not been replaced since the plant first started operating; it’s been at least seven or eight years. Are there any other reasons besides the packing factor that could cause blockages and deviation in flow? I hope the teachers can help answer this
Check based on the liquid level curve to see if it’s a problem with the instrument, and whether there is a regular sine wave pattern or something similar. What type of amine solution is it? Is it a composite type? Is an antifoaming agent added? Foaming of the amine solution may cause fluctuations in the liquid level. If liquefied gas contains water at the beginning of operation, it can cause the packing to freeze, leading to fluctuations in liquid level. Generally, the liquid-rich stream from liquefied gas and the liquid-rich stream from dry gas are connected together; check to see if there are flow control orifices or control valves somewhere downstream in the pipe network that restrict the flow. Pressure fluctuations in liquefied gas are mainly determined by whether the pressure and flow rate of the liquefied gas pump are stable; when the pressure of the liquefied gas fluctuates, the liquid level also fluctuates. An increase in the temperature of the liquefied gas supplied for absorption and stabilization will raise the pressure in the buffer tank, thereby causing changes in the pressure of the liquefied gas. To determine filler skew, liquefied gas generally carries amine liquid to the rear; this can be assessed by checking the amount of amine liquid in the amine liquid separation tank.

Aren’t both the temperature of the amine solution and that of the liquid hydrocarbons cooled by circulating water? The stabilizer tower is generally controlled based on pressure.
