According to fire safety regulations, the distance between open-flame heating furnaces and oil-containing process equipment must be at least 15 meters. However, in a book on piping, it is stated that if the outlet of the heater leads to the reactor or vacuum tower, the fire separation distance need not be subject to this limitation, in order to save expensive alloy pipelines and reduce pressure drops. I searched everywhere but couldn’t find the source. I checked another set of drawings from about 10 years ago (which may not be representative either?) ), indeed, the distance between the heating furnace and the reactor is within 15 meters (that is, 10 meters). Is there anyone who knows the source? Thank you!
At the top of that table regarding fire protection regulations, there is a statement saying that it should be arranged closely according to process requirements.
