Problem of clogged water injection nozzles on the large pump of the air-cooled tower

Recently, it was observed that the flow rate of the large pump in the air-cooling tower had decreased. Taking advantage of a shutdown period, the manhole of the air-cooling tower was opened for inspection, and solidified masses similar to sealant were found in the nozzle holes; porous substances were blocking these nozzles. This substance isn’t very hard; it can be crushed by hand. It is only present at the spray holes, its surface is not smooth, and inside it there is a sponge-like structure after being crushed. I would like to ask everyone, what is the substance that is clogging the nozzle? The blue filler pieces in the photo are used for comparison only, and they are not materials used for blocking.

We are currently facing quite severe traffic congestion; we’re holding on and haven’t stopped yet – we don’t know what’s causing the blockage!
Could it be crystals of water treatment chemicals? We have to disassemble and inspect them every time there’s a major maintenance task

Based on an analysis of the shape of the blockage in the photos, it seems to have been gradually formed by substances in the water. It is recommended to check and compare the resistance of the air-cooled tower; it should also be present in the packing.
It is also recommended to check the inlet filter of the water pump as a reference.
