Why are there so many top condensers in the propylene tower? Is it because of the large amount of propylene? Is it still because of the difficulty in condensation?
This post was last edited by sdwfsgyykai on 2018-5-20 10:42. The reflux ratio of the propylene column is high, resulting in a large vapor phase. So several condensers need to be made; if only one is used, the heat exchanger would have to be very large.
Generally, the reflux ratio in propylene towers is above 14; in some cases it is even close to 20. The reflux volume can reach 600–800 tons per hour, and in such situations the number of condensers is often around 4.
