Should sulfur corrosion be taken into account when selecting a vacuum pump for the vacuum distillation tower? What materials are you all using?
It depends on the type of vacuum pump to be used; for water ring vacuum pumps, material 304 is the best choice as it offers the best cost-performance ratio. For dry vacuum pumps, it is best to use those with a cast structure coated with nickel or a Hastelloy coating.

Water ring type; sulfur content may be high, so 316L material should be used
Our sulfur level isn’t very high, but it still works fine
