I’m a beginner and would like to know how to determine which devices require packing material Are you looking at the manufacturing drawings? Generally speaking, the internal components and packing are not the same thing, right?

The internal components of a tower generally refer to the liquid distribution plates, trays, support structures, etc., of the tower. To find out what tower it is, it’s better to look at the drawings.
It depends on how the design institute approaches the design; it is closely related to the purpose of the tower, as well as the operating conditions and the properties of the medium being processed. Generally, design institutes will take these factors into consideration and come up with the optimal design. It is quite common for a single tower to have both trays and packing.
Look at the design, and also consider what it’s used for.
1- Clarify your process requirements; the tower is used to separate mixtures; 2- Whether the tower is equipped with packing or trays is determined based on a comprehensive consideration of factors such as the operating pressure of the tower, the system involved, and investment costs ; 3- The filling height of the filler needs to be calculated based on the theoretical stage. 4- The filler model must be determined through hydraulic calculations combined with process simulation calculations. 5- The internal components refer to all the fittings inside the tower. 6-Comprehensive calculation and design of the internal components of our tower.
