Distillation columns and stripping columns

A column with only a stripping section is called a stripping tower; there is no reflux at the top, and it serves solely to purify the heavy components at the bottom of the column. So are there distillation columns that have only a distillation section, for example with gaseous feed at the bottom of the column, used solely to purify the light components at the top of the column?
There is no reboiler at the bottom of the absorption tower.
Is this related to the absorption tower? Is it only the column in the distillation section that is an absorption column?
