It is still very necessary to have diesel ready for reducing the pressure at the top of the column at the start of operation; if normal operation at atmospheric pressure is not achieved, switching to reduced-pressure mode, too rapid vacuum creation during pressure reduction, or issues in establishing the appropriate pressure levels in various sections of the column can all lead to excessively high temperatures at the top of the column.
