Are the safety valves on the vacuum tower useful?
The vacuum tower doesn’t have a safety valve, right? I’ve seen pressure relief towers that don’t have safety valves!
What you see might not be a safety valve.
You must be referring to a distillation tower; the design pressure for a vacuum tower is generally -0.1 MPa, with no positive pressure margin
I really have never seen a safety valve on a pressure relief tower.
Our pressure reduction tower is equipped with safety valves; such provisions are required by design standards to prevent overpressure during maintenance, pressure testing, and other operations involving the tower. It’s of course not needed for normal production.
Our pressure relief tower also doesn’t have a safety valve, but the moderator said that purging, pressure testing, and the pressure in the tower are quite high. Consider installing it. Not required for normal production
There are safety valves; some are located at the top of the tower, some on the reflux tank, and others on the heat exchangers. They are used for purging and leak testing.
I don’t have a safety valve at the top of the pressure reduction tower here; it’s installed on the reflux tank at the top of the tower
