There are requirements for both the tower height and diameter; the packing height needs to be calculated based on the theoretical number of theoretical plates
Generally, a section of 3 to 4 meters of packing requires redistribution

The tower height determines the number of theoretical plates, which is necessary to ensure an effective separation effect; this is calculated using formulas. For example, if 70 theoretical plates are required to achieve the desired separation, then the height of the tower must be determined based on how many theoretical plates correspond to 1 meter of packing. If 1 meter of structured packing is equivalent to 20 theoretical plates, then a packing height of 3.5 meters will suffice to meet the separation requirements. The tower diameter is primarily related to the processing capacity
It can be loaded according to the design. If the loading height is insufficient, it will affect the separation efficiency; if it is too high, it will impact the pressure drop. However, it’s unlikely to be too high, as in many cases there are multiple layers, and grids are needed to apply compression
