Dear experts, my workshop plans to replace the water injection and chemical injection nozzles at the top of the tower. I would like to ask which type of nozzle offers better practical performance
Our water injection nozzles at the top of the distillation tower are not designed with nozzles; instead, they only have check valves, gate valves, and short pipes. When replacing, use all new ones.
The injection section should not have nozzles; instead, it features inclined pipes with a 45° cut, and these pipes are inserted into the pipes at the top of the tower. In other words, the injection pipes have a 45° angle cut – I’ve never heard of nozzles being used in this setup!
If it is cut at a 45° angle, will the liquid still spray onto the opposite pipe wall? Could that cause problems?
The bevel length is quite long; it doesn’t have to be at a 45° angle. The bevel should generally be at least half the diameter of the pipe at the top of the tower, or even longer. There are also requirements regarding the direction in which the insert pipe is placed relative to the flow direction of the pipe at the top of the tower. Specific requirements can be found in relevant standards, so it’s advisable to check those standards!
