What material is used for the packing in the chlorine scrubbers currently in use? I’ve heard that ceramic fillers are used, as well as CPVC fillers. Are there any friends who can share the issues encountered when using these two types of fillers? How can one prevent the fillers from breaking and causing blockages in the chlorine water heat exchanger when using ceramic fillers? What is the typical lifespan of CPVC fillers, and do they degrade in an environment with high temperatures and chlorine gas?
We use CPVC; when it was opened after 3 years of use, signs of aging in the filler were observed, and it is planned to replace it during the next major maintenance. There is also a small amount of broken packing at the pump inlet.
CPVC fillers can last at least 10 to 15 years
We use plastic plum blossom rings here; they’ve been in use for 5 years with no problems
Our tower is made of C276 material, supplied by Kefukai, and it has worked fine for several years
