Is there hydrogen sulfide in the overhead gas of the depentanizer in a continuous reforming unit? If so, what amount is considered normal? Thank you
Normally, there is none; only C5C4C3
Unless something abnormal happens, it won’t occur under normal circumstances
If the UOP unit continuously injects sulfur, there might be hydrogen sulfide at the top of the pentane removal tower
After sulfur injection, it is sufficient to detect 1-2 ppm of hydrogen sulfide in the circulating hydrogen; there is no such hydrogen sulfide in the pentane removal tower, where more attention is paid to hydrogen chloride
The sulfur content in the feedstock for reforming after pre-hydrogenation is required to be below 0.5 ppm, usually ranging from 0.1 to 0.3 ppm; under normal conditions, reformed light hydrocarbons essentially contain no sulfur.
Hydrogen sulfide will be present; if the sulfur content in the reforming feed is 0.5 ppm, then the H2S level in the reforming cycle hydrogen will be around 1 ppm, while the H2S level in the overhead gas from the pentane removal column will be approximately 5 ppm.
Normally, there isn’t any; all the presulfurization has been removed, so the reforming system won’t contain hydrogen sulfide!
