Why are some desulfurization towers square?

As the title suggests, I would like to know why some desulfurization towers are square in shape – what are the advantages of this design compared to conventional towers?
I’ve never seen a square one; are there any pictures?

I think the so-called square design is used in acid exhaust scrubbers in the electronics industry, such as in semiconductors; the concentration to be treated there is much lower than in the chemical industry, at most reaching 1000 ppm. It has a square, horizontal layout.
