Sulfur gas enters the alkali scrubber for cleaning; why is demineralized water continuously supplied to the alkali scrubber? I don’t quite understand this. Could someone with expertise explain it? Bonus points
Ordinary tap water contains a large amount of impurity ions, which easily form salt crystals with hydrogen sulfide
Deionized water contains no impurity ions, so no salt crystals are formed
It depends on where the replenishment takes place; there are two possible purposes for replenishing deionized water: 1. To compensate for the loss of moisture in the alkaline solution, thereby maintaining its concentration. 2. Alkali washing produces Na2S, which crystallizes easily; make up with deionized water for flushing to prevent tower blockage.
