Recently, a leak was detected in the primary condenser cooler of the pre-tower during the production process; the specific symptoms are as follows. One day, the weld of a DN100 branch pipe on the circulating water main cracked, prompting the system to be shut down for repair. After parking, the circulating water was put into operation. During the startup of the front system, the distillation operator maintained the operation of the distillation system by adding demineralized water. Once the front system was stable, feed was introduced to the distillation system, and it operated for one shift; all process parameters were normal, but the moisture content in the product quality was above the specified limit. Backflow to both towers started upon the start of the night shift. It is preliminarily believed that the issue was caused by an excessive amount of deionized water during the vehicle preparation phase; the deionized water valve was found to be functioning normally. Upon further inspection of the circulating water system, a leak was found in the primary cooler. The return water to the primary cooler was shut off, and it was planned to use the secondary cooler to maintain production. However, due to severe deviations from the process parameters, the upstream system had to reduce its operation capacity, and the distillation system was shut down for maintenance. The inspection results showed two major leaks in the DN15 heat exchange tubes. I would like the experienced members of this forum to discuss it: apart from shutting down the system to plug the leak, are there any better emergency solutions for leaks in distillation heat exchangers? If there’s a leak, it certainly needs to be fixed as soon as possible – are we supposed to wait until an accident occurs before taking action? Isn’t the case of the Yima Gasification Plant a sufficient warning?
If there’s a leak, stop the vehicle right away – don’t take any chances
The safest thing to do is to stop the machine immediately when a leak occurs!
