A \"water hammer\" sound can be clearly heard in the pipeline on the outlet side of the propylene condensate from the top condenser of the propylene distillation tower (it is not circulating water); please find a solution
Water hammer can occur in any gas-liquid phase!
Personal opinion: 1. The circulating water cooler does not provide adequate cooling, resulting in incomplete condensation of propylene. Try opening the non-condensable gas discharge valve at the top of the cooler and the return water discharge valve at the top of the circulating water system. 2. Determine whether there is an excessive amount of non-condensable gas at the top of the tower by checking the tower pressure, and discharge the non-condensable gas within the tower as appropriate. 3. Check whether the flow rate and pressure of the return pump are fluctuating, and conduct further inspections to make a judgment.
There seems to be a leak in our condenser tube bundle; there’s a high amount of propylene in the circulating water. Could this be the cause? Over time, might this lead to more severe leaks in the tube bundle?
In the long run, this approach certainly won’t work; the temporary solution is to have the operators conduct regular inspections and remove the propylene from the circulating water side. Repair or replace the heat exchanger during maintenance. Then, the cause of the leakage in the circulating water tube bundle is determined, whether it is a water quality issue or some other problem, and it is resolved. To determine whether this is indeed the cause of your situation, it’s necessary to analyze it from multiple perspectives.
