Applications of polyformaldehyde in resins and coatings

I have a question for everyone: Do paint manufacturers usually purchase resins (such as phenolic resins and urea-formaldehyde resins) to produce paint, or do they buy polyformaldehyde directly to make paint? And I learned that polyformaldehyde can also be used to produce resins! Thank you!
:(Is no one answering, or is the question a bit vague?)
I’m not quite sure; I haven’t done it before. Maybe I should buy paraformaldehyde to use?
