When loading continuously, there is no need to stop the centrifugal pump; can I close the pump’s outlet valve and let it run for a few minutes using the cross-line route (rather than the return line)?
Generally, pipelines that cross lines are relatively thin, so there’s no major issue in the short term; however, over time this can cause the pump to overheat. If what the poster is describing happens occasionally, it’s not a problem, but if it occurs frequently, it’s best to avoid such practices
It’s possible; if loading occurs frequently in succession, an anti-backflow line can be added
Be aware that the pump temperature may exceed the safe limit
